How to Trust the Process When God's Timing Feels Delayed
What I've Learned About Patience, Preparation, and God's Perfect Plan
Have you ever had a plan for your life?
Maybe you were excited about the goals you set for yourself. You prayed, you worked, and you knocked on every door you could find… but instead of walking through, all you got were closed doors.
Or maybe you have a dream in your heart—something you believe is God-given—but no matter what you do, nothing seems to move.
I’ve been there, and if I’m honest, it’s one of the hardest lessons I’ve ever had to learn: God doesn’t move just because we’re ready. He moves when the time is right—His time.
When God’s Timing Feels Like a Delay
One thing I’ve come to understand is this: God’s delays are not His denials. When things aren’t happening the way you want or in the timing you hoped for, it’s not because God doesn’t care. It’s because He’s doing something deeper.
In James 1:3-4, we’re reminded:
“The testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
When God delays, He’s preparing us. He’s building our character, strengthening our faith, and aligning everything for His perfect plan. It’s not just about preparing the blessings we’ve prayed for—it’s about preparing us for those blessings.
The Hard Truth: Letting Go of Control
If I’m being honest, letting go of control hasn’t been easy for me. I’ve wrestled with frustration and doubt, asking God why things aren’t moving. But here’s what I’ve learned:
• God’s “no” is sometimes a “not yet.”
Rejection is protection. God knows what we can’t see—the intent of people, the realities of situations, and the dangers ahead.
• Every “no” is necessary.
The closed doors, the delays, and even the heartbreaks are part of the process. God is using them to refine us for something better.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
How to Trust God Through the Waiting
When God’s timing feels delayed, it’s easy to lose hope. But here’s what I’ve learned to do instead:
1. Surrender the Plan to Him.
Stop trying to force doors open. Pray for God’s will and ask Him to prepare you for what you’ve prayed for.
“Father, if it’s not for me, close the door. If it is, show me how to walk in Your timing.”
2. Give Yourself Grace.
It’s okay to feel frustrated or disappointed. Don’t beat yourself up for feeling human—just bring those feelings to God and let Him work through them with you.
3. Trust That He’s for You.
God wants you to win. If He’s not allowing something, it’s either because it’s not for you or because He’s got something better.
Romans 8:28 reminds us:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
God’s Timing is Perfect
Every delay, every “no,” and every season of waiting is shaping you for what’s next. When you feel stuck, remember that God’s plan is always bigger than what you can see.
Trust that His timing is preparing you for more than you could ask or imagine. He’s aligning things in ways that will make sense one day. Until then, take heart: God is for you, not against you.
What’s one area of your life where you’re waiting on God? How have you seen Him work in ways you didn’t expect?
Yes and he s strongest once we surrender.
